Jumping from an inside gate jockey, Patrick Holmes, settled him on the fence in 3rd position. He pushed out on straightening and put in a strong run to pass leader Cosmic Song and hold off the fast finishing Tableux. It was a very strong effort considering this was 1,400m and he clearly prefers the mile.
