The Conqueror dead heated for 2nd in a very close finish at Seymour today. Jumping from a wide barrier jockey, Dwayne Dunn, took him to the rear of the field to find cover. There the horse stayed (at least 7 lengths off the leader) until the 200m mark, where his true staying ability came to the fore and he mowed down the field to finish a short half head from the winner. A stride past the post he was clearly in front.
